Each of our 49 municipalities are planning activities that support economic development by promoting community parades and festivals that celebrate local history and culture. Raise your hand to help coordinate activities in your municipality.
Civic engagement involves working to make a difference one's community, through both political and non-political activities, toward the goal of improving the quality of life in a community. If you want to help our local answer to the national call to service, then this is the place for you! This strategic investment to build community and American pride through community service will launch an interactive web platform and marketing campaign to promote ‘DelcoVolunteers: DelcoStrong for 250 More Years’. Community Program Partners will post volunteer opportunities at their historic and civic sites, commemorative events, and public history projects.
These folks are increasing understanding, appreciation, and pride in US and Delco history and civics with the public and students through special projects and k-12 programming. Are you a social studies teacher? An education program director? This is the place for you.
If you believe that we need public art to commemorate our 250th or to help foster civic awareness and historical understanding, then join this working group!
This committee will help consider the needs and desired outcomes for all events, activities, and projects and inform practices intended to ensure people from a broad set of socio-demographic backgrounds are represented and able to participate in local 250th commemoration. The Battle of Brandywine was a pivotal engagement during the Revolutionary War, notable for involving the largest number of combatants, the highest casualties, and the most extensive land coverage of any battle in the conflict. Preservation efforts for Brandywine Battlefield have been driven by the dedication of organizations like the Brandywine Battlefield Task Force, 15 township historical commissions, Brandywine Battlefield Park Associates, and numerous volunteers.
